This medicine helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It lowers the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in adults who have risk factors for coronary heart disease or those with type 2 diabetes. It is also effective in maintaining heart health by decreasing the risk of angina, scenarios after vascular revascularization, and hospitalization for congestive heart failure. In patients with hyperlipidemia, it lowers total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglyceride levels while increasing good HDL-cholesterol levels, thereby improving blood lipid levels. Notably, it is used as an adjunct to diet in patients with familial hypercholesterolemia and can be used in pediatric patients aged 10 years and above. Through these effects, it improves risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.
