Relief of moderate to severe pain requiring opioid analgesics
This medication is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It is particularly effective at reducing pain when narcotic analgesics are required, helping patients to carry out their daily lives more comfortably. It plays a crucial role in pain management through safe use and appropriate dosage adjustments. This drug is excellent for pain relief, expecting quick and reliable effects in various situations. It is very helpful for those experiencing discomfort due to pain.
This medicine is administered to adults aged 18 years and older. For patients with chronic pain, rather than administering it only when pain occurs, administer the lowest dose at regular intervals (4~6 hours) that prevents recurrence of pain and provides adequate analgesia. Generally, the initial dose is 5 mg of oxycodone hydrochloride hydrate every 4~6 hours. Adjust the dose according to each patient's response to the initial dose and the severity of adverse reactions. When switching from a fixed-ratio opioid/non-opioid analgesic regimen to this medicine, determine whether to continue the non-opioid analgesic. If discontinuation of the non-opioid analgesic is decided, titrate the dose of this medicine in consideration of the level of analgesia and adverse reactions associated with the method of administration. If continuing the non-opioid analgesic as a separate single-ingredient product, set the initial dose of this medicine based on the most recent opioid dose as a baseline for subsequent dose increases. Adjust the dose according to each patient's response and the severity of adverse reactions. When switching from another opioid analgesic regimen to this medicine, determine the initial dose by calculating the potency and conversion ratio of the existing analgesic. 10 mg of this medicine is equivalent to 20 mg of oral morphine. After switching to this medicine, close monitoring of the patient and dose adjustment according to each patient's response and the severity of adverse reactions are essential. In particular, patients whose disease status changes rapidly may require additional analgesics for breakthrough pain or predictable pain during periods of activity, as well as an increase in the total daily dose of this medicine. In general, reduce the therapeutic dose by 25~50 % of the daily dose while carefully monitoring for signs and symptoms of withdrawal. If the patient develops signs or symptoms of withdrawal, increase the dose to the previous level and taper more slowly, for example by extending the interval between dose reductions or reducing the amount of each dose reduction.
Do not administer to children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
