This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down in the body into phenylalanine. Patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder that requires restriction of phenylalanine intake, should not take this medication. Patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication's components must not use it. Patients allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics or penicillin antibiotics, those with bronchial asthma or those who frequently exhibit allergic reactions like rashes or urticaria, patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty taking orally, patients in poor overall condition, and elderly patients should use this medication with caution. This medication can rarely cause severe side effects such as acute renal failure, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, pseudomembranous colitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, interstitial pneumonia, fulminant hepatitis, rhabdomyolysis, and hypoglycemia associated with hypocarniemia. If such symptoms occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought. Additionally, common side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, headache, and rash may occur; if symptoms are severe or persistent, consultation with a physician is advised. Before administration, a thorough medical history should be taken to identify allergy history and other risk factors, and it should be used only for the minimum necessary period to prevent the development of resistant bacteria. In particular, antibiotics like this one that have a covered substance can lower serum carnitine levels, so caution should be taken for symptoms related to carnitine deficiency during prolonged use. For elderly patients, drug concentrations may increase due to decreased renal function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and used cautiously. Furthermore, elderly patients may exhibit tendencies for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, necessitating observation. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only if the benefits of treatment outweigh the potential risks, as its safety during pregnancy has not been established. The safety of this medication in children, especially in low-birth-weight infants, has not been confirmed, and caution is advised as prolonged use in infants may cause hypocarniemia and hypoglycemia. This medication may influence some clinical test results, leading to false-positive reactions in urine sugar tests or positive reactions in direct Coombs tests, which should be noted during testing. When taking, do not crush or dissolve the granules; take them promptly with water, and guide patients to take tablets immediately after removing them from the packaging. Finally, animal studies have confirmed that this medication may affect muscle cells, leading to muscle cell disorders, so if myalgia or unusual symptoms occur, consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
