Anticoagulation effect
This medication is used to safely store blood by preventing coagulation in stored blood.
Use at a ratio of 15mL per 100mL of blood.
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver function. There is a higher risk of citric acid toxicity when administered to patients with liver disorders. Additionally, it should also be administered cautiously in patients who have undergone anesthesia in a hypothermic state due to the risk of citric acid toxicity. Administering a large amount of this drug in a short period may suppress heart function or cause abnormalities in the electrocardiogram. A decrease in blood pressure may also occur, requiring caution. Side effects related to muscles and bones may include muscle cramps or tremors. Abnormal sensations or discomfort in the chest, as well as difficulty breathing, may also occur. Digestive symptoms such as nausea or vomiting have been reported. Furthermore, hematuria, chills, tremors, fever, dizziness, and metabolic alkalosis may occur; in children, there may also be changes in stool color or bilirubin in urine. Administering this drug rapidly may lower serum calcium levels, leading to citric acid toxicity. This may result in decreased heart function, abnormalities in the electrocardiogram, and muscle cramps; thus, calcium supplements should be administered if necessary. When using this drug, ensure that the anticoagulant is clean and clear. The blood should be mixed well multiple times during collection, and cross-matching must be performed before transfusion. Prior to transfusion, ensure that the cells in the blood are evenly suspended. Do not combine this drug with other medications during transfusion, and always check blood type, discoloration, and hemolysis. Use a transfusion set with a filter and take care to avoid damaging the blood storage container. Blood should not be warmed before transfusion. This drug should be stored at a temperature between 1°C and 6°C, with temperature fluctuations maintained within 2°C. It should not be stored at temperatures exceeding 40°C. Opened aluminum foil packaging may cause moisture to evaporate, so it should be opened just before use; if resealed after opening, it should be used within 20 days.
