This medication helps prevent and continuously treat asthma. It is also used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.
This drug should be taken once daily, with asthma patients taking it in the evening, and allergy rhinitis patients following dosage times based on their condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 4 mg once daily in the evening. The 4 mg granule may be taken directly orally or mixed with a small amount (about 5 mL) of food, breast milk, or soft food below room temperature.

This drug may cause significant neuropsychiatric adverse effects, so it is important to closely monitor for changes in mental state such as anxiety, aggression, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts and behaviors during treatment. This drug should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components. During treatment, unusual reactions such as dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, fever, cough, and rash may occur, so consult a doctor if symptoms arise. This drug is not a treatment for acute asthma attacks, so a suitable emergency medication should be available and used when acute symptoms occur. Inhaled corticosteroids should not be abruptly discontinued or replaced with this drug; they should be adjusted gradually according to a physician's instructions. It should not be used alone for the treatment of exercise-induced bronchospasm; if needed, inhaled β-agonists should be used in conjunction. Patients with a hypersensitivity to aspirin should avoid taking aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs while on this medication, as this drug does not treat aspirin-induced bronchoconstriction. Serious symptoms, such as vasculitis or eosinophilia, may rarely occur during treatment, so any indications such as skin rash or worsening respiratory symptoms should be immediately reported to a doctor for monitoring. No specific interactions have been reported with other medications, but monitoring by a doctor may be required when taken with certain drugs. During pregnancy, this drug should only be used when necessary, and caution should be exercised while breastfeeding. It can also be used in children and elderly patients, but safety and efficacy may vary by age group and should be determined according to a physician's instructions. No specific antidote is available for overdose; general symptomatic treatment and clinical monitoring are required. Being sensitive to light, it is important not to open the packaging until just before use, and it should be taken immediately after preparation. Store out of reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer to another container. This drug should be taken consistently even when asthma symptoms are absent, and if symptoms worsen or unusual symptoms appear, consult with the attending physician. If the frequency of short-acting inhaled bronchodilator use increases during treatment, medical evaluation is necessary. Patients with exercise-induced asthma should continue to use inhaled β-agonists as prescribed for preventive purposes and keep a rescue short-acting inhaler on hand at all times. If neuropsychiatric symptoms occur during treatment, inform a doctor immediately.
