This medication is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults and is also used as an adjunct for partial seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is effective in relieving pain associated with fibromyalgia. It is utilized for the treatment of various neuropathic disorders and pain, helping improve patients' symptoms.
This medication should be taken orally, divided into two doses per day, regardless of food intake. 1. Neuropathic Pain 1) Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: The starting dose is 150 mg per day, which can be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days. It can be further increased to a maximum of 600 mg per day at weekly intervals. 2) Central Neuropathic Pain: The starting dose is 150 mg per day,
Administration in children under 12 years old and adolescents aged 12 to 17 is not recommended due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so if symptoms of depression or mood changes occur during treatment, it is essential to inform healthcare professionals immediately. Patients should not take this medication if they are allergic to any of its components, and it should not be administered to patients with certain genetic disorders. Diabetic patients may need to adjust their blood sugar control medications due to weight gain, and if symptoms of angioedema, such as swelling of the face or around the mouth, occur due to allergic reactions, the medication should be discontinued immediately.
