Treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, adjunct for partial epilepsy, improvement of fibromyalgia.
This medication is used to relieve peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also used as an adjunct in the treatment of partial seizures in epilepsy patients. Additionally, it is effective in improving symptoms of fibromyalgia. Through these effects, it helps manage symptoms of various neurological disorders effectively.
This drug is Pregabalin and is administered orally in divided doses twice daily, regardless of meals. 1. Neuropathic Pain - Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: The starting dose is 150 mg per day, which can be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days. If necessary, it can be further increased to a maximum of 600 mg at intervals of 7 days. - Central Neuropathic Pain: The starting dose is 150 mg per day.
There is insufficient safety and efficacy data for children under 12 years and adolescents aged 12 to 17, so administration is not recommended.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so if mood changes or symptoms of depression occur during treatment, consult a healthcare provider immediately. Patients who are allergic to any ingredients in this medicine or have a hereditary condition of lactose intolerance should not take it. Diabetic patients should be advised to discuss treatment with their doctor, as weight gain may make blood sugar control difficult. If serious allergic reactions such as angioedema occur, stop taking the medication immediately and inform healthcare personnel. Elderly individuals may be at higher risk for falls or injuries due to dizziness or drowsiness, so they should be cautious and avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery when these symptoms occur. Blurred vision or visual changes may occur, so consult a doctor if these symptoms persist. Abruptly stopping this medication can lead to withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headaches, and anxiety, so physicians' guidance should be followed when tapering off the medication. Due to the risk of drug abuse, patients with a history of substance abuse should take this medication with special caution. Patients with decreased kidney function may require dose adjustments, so kidney status should be monitored during treatment. Patients with heart conditions should be cautious, as symptoms of congestive heart failure may worsen when taking this medication. Caution is needed when taking this medication with opioid analgesics due to the increased risk of central nervous system depression, leading to respiratory distress. During early pregnancy, there is a risk of fetal malformations, so women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication and should use effective contraception. Breastfeeding mothers should discuss with healthcare personnel about the risk of this medication passing into breast milk and its potential effects on the baby. This medication can cause dizziness and drowsiness, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery after taking it. In case of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, depression, and seizures may occur, and immediate emergency treatment should be sought, which may include blood dialysis if necessary. Keep out of reach of children, and do not transfer to another container.
Hives, severe swelling (including angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attacks, respiratory issues with cough and fever, jaundice (skin or eyes turning yellow), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture, and it is best kept at room temperature between 15°C and 30°C. Proper storage will help maintain the medication's effectiveness.
