Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication helps patients with type 2 diabetes effectively control their blood sugar when combined with dietary control and exercise. The two components, Glymeperide and Metformin, work together to assist in blood sugar regulation. This medication facilitates smoother blood sugar management, showing positive effects in diabetes treatment.
This medication is administered 1 to 2 times a day before or with meals. The dosage can be adjusted based on the current therapeutic regimen, efficacy, and tolerability for each patient, and proper blood sugar monitoring is required. Generally, treatment begins with a low dose, and the dosage is adjusted according to blood sugar levels. In clinical trials, the initial daily dose was Glymeperide/Metformin Hydrochloride 2mg/500mg, gradually increasing to 8mg/2000mg.
This medication can cause severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, so caution is necessary, especially when renal function is severely impaired. If dehydration symptoms occur, temporary discontinuation of the medication and consulting with a physician is advised. Patients with low kidney function or those taking certain medications should use this drug cautiously and have regular renal function checks. Patients with cardiovascular diseases may have increased mortality risk with this medication, so risks and benefits must be carefully evaluated. This medication should not be used in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes, acute metabolic acidosis, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, pregnant or nursing women, and those with certain genetic disorders. Elderly patients, malnourished individuals, those with irregular meals, and alcohol consumers should be observed closely during administration due to a high risk of hypoglycemia. This medication may cause gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, etc.), which are usually temporary. Allergic reactions or hematological abnormalities may occur, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. Regular monitoring of blood sugar, kidney function, vitamin B12 levels, etc., during the course of treatment with this drug is important. In case of overdose, hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis may occur, and immediate medical assistance should be sought. There are numerous interactions with other medications, so it is essential to consult with a physician or pharmacist when starting or stopping new medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication and insulin therapy should be considered when necessary. Special caution is required for children and the elderly when administering this medication, particularly to confirm kidney function impairment. Caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery due to the risk of accidents from hypoglycemia or dexterity impairments.
