Precautions

This medication must not be given to patients who have previously experienced shock due to its components. The medication contains a dye known as Yellow No. 5, so patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to this ingredient should use it with caution. Additionally, patients with allergies to this medication or cephalosporin antibiotics, or who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin antibiotics, should take special care. Individuals with a family history of allergic symptoms such as bronchial asthma, skin rashes, and hives should also use this medication cautiously. In patients with significantly impaired kidney function, the blood concentration of this medication can increase, necessitating dosage adjustments or extended dosing intervals. Patients who have difficulties swallowing medication orally or who have poor nutritional status should be closely monitored for symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. Elderly patients have decreased physical function, so it is important to adjust the dosage and dosing interval when using this medication and to monitor their condition carefully. Severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur while taking this medication; if symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath, or sweating appear, treatment should be discontinued immediately, and healthcare professionals should be informed. There is a risk of rapid deterioration in kidney function, so regular kidney function tests are necessary, and if abnormalities are found, the medication should be discontinued. There may be a decrease in blood cell count or the occurrence of hemolytic anemia, thus regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor these conditions. If abdominal pain, frequent diarrhea, or blood in the stool occurs, it may be indicative of colitis, and the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical attention sought. In cases of severe skin rashes or mucosal damage, treatment must be terminated immediately and appropriate care sought. If symptoms of pneumonia arise, the medication should be ceased and a chest X-ray and blood tests performed for appropriate treatment. Liver function impairment may occur, so regular liver function tests are necessary, and if abnormalities are found, the medication should be discontinued. Symptoms such as myalgia or muscle weakness, along with elevated muscle enzyme levels in blood tests, may indicate rhabdomyolysis; the medication should be stopped immediately. Especially in infants, prolonged administration may result in carnitine deficiency and hypoglycemia, requiring immediate cessation if convulsions or altered consciousness occur. If allergic symptoms like rashes, hives, itching, or fever develop during treatment, the medication should be discontinued immediately and healthcare professionals consulted. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and abdominal pain may occur, and bleeding tendency from vitamin K deficiency should also be monitored closely. In elderly patients, the elimination of this medication may be delayed; hence, adjusting the dosage and dosing interval while carefully monitoring their condition is important. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the risks have been outweighed by the benefits, as its safety has not been established. The safety of this medication in newborns and low-birth-weight infants has not been verified, so its use should be avoided. This medication may cause false-positive reactions in certain urine glucose tests; caution is needed during testing. To avoid the bitter taste of the medication, do not crush or dissolve the tablet but take it quickly with water as directed, and ensure it is taken from the packaging.
