Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication assists patients with type 2 diabetes to manage their blood sugar more effectively in conjunction with dietary and exercise management. Glimepiride and metformin work together to stabilize blood sugar levels. Therefore, consistent use will significantly help in improving blood sugar control.
This medication is administered 1-2 times a day before meals or with meals. The dosage can be adjusted based on each patient's current therapy, efficacy, and tolerability, with appropriate blood sugar monitoring being conducted for this purpose. Normally, treatment begins at a low dose, and the dosage can be adjusted considering the patient's current medications and blood sugar levels. In clinical trials, the initial daily dose was glimepiride/metformin hydrochloride
This medication carries the risk of causing severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, thus treatment should be temporarily discontinued and a doctor consulted if kidney function suddenly declines or if there is severe dehydration. Patients with a kidney function of less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m², those with severe liver dysfunction, patients with acute metabolic acidosis, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with specific allergies should not use this medication. Patients at high risk for hypoglycemia, such as the elderly, those in a state of malnutrition, those with irregular meals, or those engaging in strenuous exercise, should be monitored more closely while using this medication. Gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, etc.) may occur at the beginning of treatment but usually improve naturally over time. If any allergic reactions occur, inform a doctor immediately, and discontinue use in severe cases. This medication lowers blood sugar; therefore, if symptoms of hypoglycemia (headache, trembling, confusion, etc.) occur, immediate sugar intake is necessary, and consultation with healthcare professionals should follow. During treatment, regular monitoring of blood sugar, kidney function, liver function, and Vitamin B12 levels is necessary to check for abnormalities. As this medication can interact with other medications, be sure to inform healthcare professionals if taking other drugs or beginning new treatments. If pregnant or planning pregnancy, insulin therapy should be considered instead of this medication, and breastfeeding should also be avoided during treatment. Overdosage can lead to hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis; therefore, do not change the dosage without a doctor's guidance, and report any unusual symptoms to healthcare professionals immediately. Caution is necessary during driving or operating machinery due to the risk of accidents from hypoglycemia or dizziness. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture, at temperatures between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the medication for a longer duration and ensure safe usage.
