This medication is used to effectively enhance blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes alongside dietary and exercise therapy through the combined administration of Glymefide and Metformin.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken 1 to 2 times a day before meals or with meals. The dosage can be adjusted based on each patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerance, requiring appropriate blood glucose monitoring. Precautions

This medicine may pose a risk of severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia; thus, especially in cases of rapid decline in kidney function, discontinuation of the medication is necessary. It is important to temporarily discontinue this medication and consult a physician if there is dehydration or severe diarrhea, vomiting, or fever. Patients with a risk of cardiovascular disease should use this medication with caution as it may be associated with an increased rate of cardiovascular mortality. This medication should not be administered to patients with insulin-dependent diabetes, severe hepatic dysfunction, severely impaired kidney function, pregnant women, or nursing mothers. During the initial dosing, the risk of hypoglycemia is high; therefore, careful monitoring of meal status and blood sugar is required, especially in elderly patients or those with poor nutritional status, patients engaging in intense exercise, and those with high alcohol consumption. Common gastrointestinal side effects of this medication include gastrointestinal disorders, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, but most of these are temporary and improve gradually. If serious allergic reactions or skin rashes develop, notify a physician immediately. Long-term use may result in vitamin B12 deficiency, necessitating regular blood tests. In patients with impaired kidney function, there is an increased risk of accumulation and lactic acidosis from this medication, so regular kidney function tests should be performed, and discontinuation should be considered if necessary. The combination with other medications may affect blood sugar control; therefore, any concurrent medications should be reported to healthcare providers.
