View approved original text

This medication is used for the treatment of essential hypertension and is also applicable to patients with heart failure who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. It helps reduce the risk of mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction. Thus, it is effective for maintaining cardiovascular health and reducing the risk of complications through blood pressure control and improvement of heart function. Therefore, this medication is used for hypertension, certain heart failure conditions, and post-myocardial infarction treatment.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. It should not be used by individuals with a known allergy to this medication or those with severe liver dysfunction, very poor kidney function, or pregnant or breastfeeding women. Caution is required for the elderly or patients with high blood potassium levels or impaired liver function, and dosage adjustment may be necessary. Patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction may experience changes in kidney function, so renal function must be monitored before and during treatment. This medication lowers blood pressure, which may cause sudden drops in blood pressure leading to dizziness or fainting when first taken; thus, careful observation of the patient's condition is necessary. There is a risk of hyperkalemia, so blood potassium levels should be frequently monitored when taken in conjunction with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics. Interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensives, diuretics, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), so consultation with a physician or pharmacist is necessary. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult healthcare professionals before use, and breastfeeding women are recommended to discontinue breastfeeding if taking this medication. Safety and efficacy have not been established in children and adolescents under 18 years old, so it is best not to use this medication in these age groups. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension and decreased consciousness may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container for safety.
