In respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis, bronchial spasms and excessive mucus secretion frequently occur. These symptoms can cause narrowing of the airways and breathing difficulties, leading to discomfort in daily life. The medication alleviates bronchial spasms and regulates excessive mucus production, facilitating easier breathing. This helps improve symptoms and enhances the quality of life for patients. This drug is primarily used for bronchial asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It should be used with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, diabetes, and severely impaired kidney function. During use, neurological symptoms such as headaches, tremors, muscle rigidity, drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, and limb numbness may occur. Additionally, cardiovascular side effects such as rapid heartbeat, unstable blood pressure, and arrhythmias may arise. Allergic reactions like skin rashes, itching, angioedema, urticaria, bronchial spasms, hypotension, and weakness may occur, necessitating immediate discontinuation of the medication if they arise. Elevated liver function values, general malaise, edema, and gastrointestinal disturbances have also been reported. Continued use of excessive doses may lead to arrhythmias or cardiac arrest, thus caution is required. It is essential to adhere strictly to prescribed methods of use and dosage, especially when administering to children, accurate guidance and careful monitoring of their condition should be provided. This medication can lower blood potassium levels, particularly when used in conjunction with xanthine derivatives, steroids, or diuretics, so extreme caution is necessary for patients with severe asthma. In conditions of low blood oxygen, lowered potassium levels may have a more significant impact on cardiac rhythms, so regular monitoring of blood potassium levels is advisable. This medication should not be used concurrently with catecholamines such as epinephrine or isoproterenol as it may induce arrhythmias or cardiac arrest. Patients taking MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants should be cautious as vascular side effects may be intensified. Additionally, it should not be combined with non-selective beta-blockers like propranolol, and should be used with care in patients taking multiple sympathomimetics. Safety during pregnancy has not been established; therefore, women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use it only when the benefits outweigh the risks, especially during the first three months of pregnancy. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily functions, so dosage should be reduced or used cautiously. In cases of overdose, symptoms often resolve after discontinuation, and a cardiac-selective beta blocker may be used as an antidote, although caution is needed in patients with a history of bronchial spasms. Lastly, a rare allergic rash may occur with variations in the dosage of one of the ingredients, ambroxol hydrochloride, and some patients with specific constitutions may experience systemic allergic reactions.
