Precautions

This medication works by binding to certain proteins and disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. It should not be used in patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication or similar classes of antibiotics. Caution should be taken when using this drug in patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics or those with a family history of frequent allergic reactions such as bronchial asthma, rashes, and urticaria. Patients with severely reduced kidney function, those who cannot take oral medications, elderly patients, and those in poor general condition should be closely monitored for potential vitamin K deficiency. Caution is also required in patients with gastrointestinal diseases, particularly those with a history of colitis. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions like shock or anaphylaxis, so patients should be closely observed during administration, and if any abnormal symptoms occur, the drug should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate measures should be taken. Severe reactions may occur on the skin; therefore, if symptoms such as rash, blisters, or skin peeling appear, administration should be stopped immediately. Regular blood tests are necessary as there may be a decrease in white blood cells or platelets, or the occurrence of anemia; if any abnormal findings are detected, administration should be stopped. Liver dysfunction or kidney dysfunction may arise; therefore, liver and kidney function tests should be regularly performed, and if abnormalities are found, administration should be ceased and treatment pursued. Severe colitis, such as pseudomembranous colitis, may rarely occur, so if there is severe abdominal pain or diarrhea, treatment should be discontinued immediately. If respiratory symptoms or symptoms of pneumonia develop, administration should cease and appropriate treatment should be received. Central nervous system symptoms such as anxiety, agitation, hallucinations, and dizziness may occur rarely, so caution is needed. Long-term use of this medication can lead to dysbiosis resulting in conditions like stomatitis or candidiasis. There may be a tendency to bleed due to vitamin K deficiency, so bleeding symptoms should be monitored. Caution is advised when used concomitantly with other drugs, particularly those affecting the kidneys or anticoagulants and oral contraceptives. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, and it should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks. Caution should be exercised in nursing women as small amounts can be excreted in breast milk. It is advisable not to use this drug in neonates under 1 month of age as its safety and efficacy have not been confirmed. When administering to the elderly, adjustments should be made to the dose and administration intervals, and close observation is necessary as adverse reactions may occur more easily due to decreased bodily functions. This medication may affect the results of urine or blood tests, requiring careful interpretation of test results.
