Improvement of essential hypertension and heart failure (left ventricular dysfunction)
This medication helps to stabilize blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension, preventing cardiovascular complications. It can also be used in heart failure patients with reduced left ventricular contraction function, and is especially effective in cases where additional therapy beyond ACE inhibitors is needed or where ACE inhibitor tolerance is poor. By improving blood circulation and reducing the burden on the heart, it contributes to the overall improvement of heart function. Therefore, it is useful for the treatment of essential hypertension and certain heart failure patients.
Essential hypertension: The recommended starting and maintenance dose for adults is oral administration of 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil once daily. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks at 16 mg once daily, the dose may be increased up to 32 mg once daily.Max 32 mg if still poorly controlled. No initial dose adjustment is required for elderly patients. For patients with diminished effective blood volume: starting dose of 4 mg. For patients with renal impairment: starting dose of 4 mg.
Safety and efficacy for children and adolescents under 18 have not been established.
This drug may cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn when administered to pregnant women, so the use should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Those who are allergic to this drug or its components, pregnant women or women of childbearing potential, nursing mothers, patients with severe liver impairment, patients with a history of angioedema, and individuals with certain genetic disorders should avoid taking this drug. Elderly patients, patients with hyperkalemia, liver disease, heart diseases, and those with impaired kidney function should use this drug cautiously and require regular blood tests and condition monitoring. This drug may cause side effects such as dizziness, back pain, and respiratory infections, and in rare cases, serious adverse reactions may occur. Therefore, if any abnormal symptoms arise, medical consultation should be sought immediately. In heart failure patients, hypotension, hyperkalemia, and renal function impairment may occur, making regular checks of blood potassium levels and kidney function important. When taken with other antihypertensive agents, the blood pressure-lowering effect may be increased; thus, caution is needed during administration. Particularly, when used in combination with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements, blood potassium levels may become dangerously elevated. Pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing mothers should also ideally discontinue breastfeeding or avoid taking this medication. Safety and efficacy for children and adolescents under 18 years have not been established, so its use in this population is not recommended. Elderly patients may experience serious adverse effects, such as cerebral infarction, due to excessive blood pressure lowering, so careful monitoring is advised during administration. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and tachycardia may appear, necessitating immediate visit to a medical institution for proper treatment, and this drug is not removed by dialysis. Keep out of reach of children, and avoid transferring to other containers as it may compromise product quality.
