View approved original text

This medicine is used to treat essential hypertension. It is also effective in patients with heart failure where the left ventricular ejection fraction is 40% or lower, and left ventricular systolic function is compromised. It is particularly helpful when additional effects are needed beyond ACE inhibitors or when ACE inhibitors are not well tolerated. Thus, it plays an important role in controlling blood pressure and improving heart function.
