Improvement of essential hypertension and heart failure (left ventricular dysfunction)
This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It also helps in the treatment of heart failure symptoms in patients whose left ventricular systolic function is compromised, where additional treatment with ACE inhibitors is needed or not well tolerated. This medication contributes to alleviating the patient’s symptoms and improving the quality of life through the improvement of heart function and blood pressure control.
For adults with essential hypertension: The recommended initial and maintenance dosage is 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil taken orally once daily. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks at 16 mg once daily, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 32 mg once daily. For adults with heart failure: The initial dose is recommended to be 4 mg taken orally once daily. The dosage may be doubled at intervals of at least 2 weeks.
Safety and efficacy for adolescents and children under 18 years have not been established.
