Prevention and improvement of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) and sinusitis (acute, with polyps)
This medication is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis and perennial rhinitis in adults and children over 2 years of age. For patients with moderate to severe seasonal allergic rhinitis, treatment may be initiated as prophylaxis 2-4 weeks prior to expected allergen exposure. It is also used for the treatment of nasal polyps in adults over 18 years. Additionally, it is effective in treating acute sinusitis without severe bacterial infection in adults and adolescents over 12 years. Thus, it is utilized for various conditions related to rhinitis and sinus disease, aiding in symptom relief.
Allergic rhinitis: spray 2 times in each nostril once daily (total daily dose 0.2 mg). The frequency can be reduced to 1 spray in each nostril if symptoms are alleviated (total daily dose 0.1 mg). Maximum 4 sprays in each nostril once daily (total daily dose 0.4 mg). Nasal polyps: spray 2 times in each nostril once daily (total daily dose 0.2 mg). If symptoms are not alleviated, increase to 2 sprays in each nostril twice daily (total daily dose 0.4 mg). If no symptom relief is noted after 5-6 weeks of twice daily administration, consider other treatment modalities. There have been no studies on the use of this drug for more than 4 months for nasal polyp treatment.
Allergic rhinitis: spray 1 time in each nostril once daily (total daily dose 0.1 mg).
This medication should not be used in certain patients. It should not be given to individuals who are allergic to this drug or any of its components. Patients with untreated infections of the nasal mucosa, recent nasal surgery, or nasal wounds should also avoid this medication. Additionally, it is not to be administered to infants under 2 years old. Precautions are needed when using this drug. It should be used cautiously in patients with active or latent tuberculosis, systemic infections, and herpes simplex virus in the eyes. Patients prone to nosebleeds or at risk of chickenpox or measles should also be careful. Patients with unilateral nasal polyps or cystic fibrosis-related polyps, pregnant women, and nursing mothers should be treated with caution. Side effects such as headaches, viral infections, pharyngitis, nosebleeds, cough, and upper respiratory infections may occur. Rarely, immediate hypersensitivity reactions such as bronchospasm or difficulty breathing may occur; if unusual symptoms appear, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Long-term high-dose use may result in systemic side effects, thus caution is necessary. Regular examinations of the nasal mucosa should be conducted with prolonged use, and treatment may need to be stopped or adjusted for local fungal infections. Attention must be paid to the risk of infections like chickenpox or measles. When administering to children, growth delay may be a possibility, so their growth should be monitored regularly. The elderly may experience decreased physical function, so their condition should be closely observed during use. Overdose does not require special treatment, but be aware of side effects from excessive use of corticosteroids. Before use, the container should be shaken well, and a test spray should be performed; care should be taken not to spray directly onto the eyes or the nasal septum. Keep out of reach of children, and the effects on driving or operating machinery are not known.
