Treatment of essential hypertension and reduction of risk of cardiovascular disease
This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It can also be administered as an alternative when ACE inhibitors cannot be used, and it is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and mortality from cardiovascular disease in high-risk patients aged 55 and older. Thus, it aids in the prevention and management of various cardiovascular problems associated with hypertension.
As Telmisartan, take 40 mg orally once a day with water, regardless of meals. Each patient may effectively use 20 mg once a day, or it can be increased to 80 mg once a day if necessary. The maximum antihypertensive effect is observed 4 to 8 weeks after starting the treatment. For the reduction of cardiovascular disease risk, 80 mg once daily is recommended. Patients with liver impairment should take care.
