This medication is effective for allergy and skin symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, chronic urticaria, and skin pruritus. It is also used in combination with hydrocortisone topical medication for the treatment of eczema and dermatitis. It helps relieve various skin and mucosal symptoms related to allergies, aiming to reduce patient discomfort and improve symptoms.
Adults and children over 6 years old should take Cetirizine Hydrochloride orally, 10 mg once daily before bedtime. For patients sensitive to adverse reactions, it can be split into 5 mg doses taken in the morning and evening. Adjustments may be made according to age and symptoms. In patients with renal impairment, the dosing interval should be adjusted based on renal function, and dose and frequency should be modified according to creatinine clearance.
Children over 6 years old should take Cetirizine Hydrochloride orally, 10 mg once daily before bedtime, using the same dosage as adults. In pediatric patients with renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted based on renal clearance and body weight.
This medication should not be taken by individuals allergic to certain components or those with hypersensitivity. It is especially unsafe for patients with significantly impaired kidney function and those under 6 years of age. This medication contains lactose, so it should not be taken by individuals with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders. The effects of this medication may change when taken with other specific drugs, and it is advisable not to take it with other medications without consulting a doctor. Taking this medication with alcohol may intensify side effects, so it is safer not to consume alcohol. Individuals with compromised kidney or liver function, the elderly, and patients with epilepsy should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. Pregnant or nursing women should consult professionals before taking this medication, as it may affect the baby during breastfeeding. In case of overdose, various symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, and headache may occur; thus, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is crucial, and there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be based on symptoms. It is advisable to discontinue this medication before allergy testing and to be cautious when driving or operating machinery. When taken with food, the absorption speed of the drug may slightly decrease, but it does not significantly affect the overall absorption. Lastly, it is important to keep this medication out of the reach of children and to store it securely in its original container.
