This medication is used to relieve symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and tearing caused by the common cold, allergies, and vasomotor rhinitis. The tablet or syrup form is particularly effective in improving tearing symptoms, while the capsule form helps alleviate sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion. By relieving these symptoms, it contributes to enhancing patients' comfort in daily life.

How to take

Adult dose

Tablet: Adults should take 1 tablet three times a day after meals. Capsule: Adults should take 1 capsule three times a day after meals. Syrup: Adults and children aged 12 years and older should take 10 mL three times a day after meals.

Child dose

Tablet: Children aged 12-14 years should take 1/2 tablet three times a day after meals. Capsule: Children aged 12-14 years should take 1/2 capsule three times a day after meals. Syrup: Children aged 12 years and older should take 1 dose.

Precautions

This medication contains an ingredient called pseudoephedrine, which may rarely cause severe skin reactions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis. If symptoms such as fever, red spots on the skin, or numerous small blisters occur, discontinue the use of this drug immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. The following individuals should not take this medication: those who have had an allergic reaction to this drug, individuals with severely impaired liver or kidney function, those with severe heart disease, individuals with urinary retention, those with hypertension or cardiovascular disease, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, breastfeeding women, children under 2 years of age, individuals taking certain antidepressants, or those with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders should not take this drug. Moreover, during the use of this medication, it should not be combined with blood pressure medications, alcohol, sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, certain antidepressants, or sympathomimetics, and especially if you have taken an MAO inhibitor, this medication should be taken at least 15 days after. While taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid activities that require concentration, such as driving or operating machinery. Individuals with asthma, glaucoma, heart disease, arrhythmia, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or benign prostatic hyperplasia, as well as children under 12 years of age, should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days of use or if a high fever occurs, discontinue the use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, if unusual symptoms such as drowsiness, nervousness, anxiety, sweating, low blood pressure, vision problems, hallucinations, muscle spasms, severe headache, or vomiting occur, stop taking the medication immediately and seek medical attention. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hallucinations, seizures, and severe insomnia may occur, and immediate medical attention is required, possibly needing gastric lavage or dialysis. Store this medication out of the reach of children, in its original container, tightly sealed, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Transferring it to another container may lead to misuse or degradation of the drug's quality.

Serious side effects

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), fever with rash, multiple small pustules, severe skin adverse reactions, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, vision abnormalities, symptoms of ischemic colitis (sudden abdominal pain, rectal bleeding), symptoms of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome and reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome.

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with MAO inhibitors, antihypertensives, central nervous system depressants (sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers), sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, guanethidine, bretylium, beta-noradrenergic agents, debrisoquine, methyldopa, sympathomimetic drugs (decongestants, appetite suppressants, amphetamines), and alpha and beta adrenergic inhibitors.

Food interactions

Do not take this medication with alcohol.

Storage

This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a container that does not allow light to enter. Additionally, avoid extremely hot or cold conditions, and it is best to store it at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees.
