Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with a hereditary condition known as phenylketonuria, as the artificial sweetener aspartame included in this medication is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. The daily intake of aspartame should be limited to below the WHO recommended amount of 40 mg/kg, with a maximum of 2.4 g per day for adults. Patients with allergic reactions to this medication or hypersensitivity to its components should not take it. This medication also contains lactose and should not be taken by patients with genetic conditions such as lactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. This medication is not intended for use during acute asthma attacks, and patients should always carry appropriate emergency medications if asthma worsens. When reducing the dose of inhaled corticosteroids, it should be done gradually under medical supervision, and patients should not abruptly switch to other medications. Patients taking this medication may experience neuropsychiatric symptoms, so the patient or caregiver should immediately inform a doctor if such symptoms occur. Patients with exercise-induced bronchospasm should not use this medication alone and should continue using inhaled β-agonists, keeping a rapid-acting inhaler ready in case of emergencies. Patients with aspirin hypersensitivity should not take aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs while on this medication. Patients taking this medication may experience rare symptoms of vasculitis associated with eosinophilia, so doctors should carefully monitor for worsening pulmonary symptoms or skin rashes. Co-administration with other asthma treatments has not generally reported significant drug interactions; however, clinical monitoring may be needed when used with certain drugs. Pregnant women must consult a doctor before taking this medication, and caution is also needed for breastfeeding women. This medication can also be used in children and the elderly, but safety and efficacy may vary according to age, so it should be taken under the guidance of a professional. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so the patient should receive general symptomatic treatment under the guidance of a doctor. This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be taken immediately after opening the package, and kept out of reach of children. Finally, this medication should be taken consistently even if asthma symptoms are not present, and if symptoms worsen, a doctor should be consulted immediately.
