This medication helps to prevent and treat asthma continuously and is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

How to take

Adult dose

Take this medication once daily, but asthma patients should take it in the evening. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time is determined according to the patient's condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take one tablet in the evening once daily. Adults and adolescents 15 years and older should take 10 mg orally once daily as Montelukast.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is contraindicated in patients with the genetic disease phenylketonuria. Patients who need to control their phenylalanine intake should consult their physician before taking this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take it. It is used in asthma and allergic rhinitis patients, and side effects such as fatigue, headache, dyspepsia, and cough have been reported in some patients during clinical trials. Particularly, neurological or allergic reactions may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be reported to a physician immediately. This medication is not effective during acute asthma attacks, so always carry an emergency inhaler. Patients with hypersensitivity to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid taking these medications while on this drug. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you must consult with a physician before taking this medication, and caution is advised for children and the elderly as well. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so general treatment depending on symptoms is necessary.
