This medication helps to prevent and continuously treat asthma. It is also used to alleviate symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily; patients with asthma should take it in the evening, and allergic rhinitis patients should adjust the dosing time according to their condition. For patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis, take one tablet in the evening once daily. This medication should be administered one hour before a meal or two hours after a meal.

Child dose

For children aged 2 to 5 years, take 4 mg of Montelukast once daily as a chewable tablet. This medication should be administered one hour before a meal or two hours after a meal.

Precautions

This medication is used to alleviate symptoms of asthma or allergic rhinitis. During use, neurological and psychiatric symptoms may occur, so patients and guardians must carefully monitor for these changes. If symptoms such as anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts arise, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, so patients with phenylketonuria should avoid taking it. Since it contains lactose, patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not use it. This medication will not help during an acute asthma attack, so always have a backup inhaler ready for use.
