This medication is used to lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It also helps improve symptoms in heart failure patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. After a myocardial infarction, it is effective in reducing the mortality risk in patients with left ventricular dysfunction. This drug plays an important role in protecting cardiovascular health and increasing patient survival rates; therefore, it is used for essential hypertension, certain types of heart failure, and post-myocardial infarction management.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Essential Hypertension - Adults: Recommended oral administration of 80 mg once daily as valsartan. - If blood pressure control is difficult, it can be increased to 160 mg once daily. - If additional blood pressure lowering is needed, it can be increased to a maximum of 320 mg once daily. 2. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This drug should not be used in patients with certain conditions. For example, people allergic to this drug or its ingredients, pregnant or nursing women, patients with severe liver disease or cirrhosis, hereditary angioedema patients, severe renal impairment patients, primary hyperaldosteronism patients, and some patients with diabetes or severe renal impairment should not take this medication. Elderly patients, patients with hyperkalemia, patients with liver disease, patients with valvular heart disease, patients with cardiovascular disease, and patients with fluid depletion should exercise caution when taking this medication, and it is important to monitor for sudden drops in blood pressure during the initial phase of treatment. This drug lowers blood pressure but may cause side effects such as headaches, dizziness, cough, diarrhea, and fatigue. Adverse reactions have also been reported in patients with heart failure or after myocardial infarction. During treatment, blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels should be regularly monitored for any abnormalities. Care should be taken regarding interactions when taken with other antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, or potassium supplements. Caution is required as this drug may cause dizziness when driving or operating machinery. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding while taking this drug. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 years of age have not been sufficiently established, so use is not recommended.
