This medication is used to alleviate the symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. It can also help relieve symptoms when used in conjunction with topical hydrocortisone preparations in adults and children over 6 years old with dermatitis and eczema accompanied by itching. It effectively aids in reducing the uncomfortable symptoms of these conditions.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 6 years: 5 mg (10 mL in liquid form) orally once a day, regardless of meals. Adults with renal impairment should adjust the dosage based on renal function (estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)). - Normal renal function (≥ 90 mL/min): 5 mg once a day - Mild renal impairment (60 -< 90 mL/min): 5 mg once a day - Moderate

Child dose

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who have had an allergic reaction or hypersensitivity to any of the components. It should not be administered to patients with end-stage renal disease or those on dialysis. It should not be used in infants under 1 year old, and children under 6 years old should take it in liquid form, not pill form. The liquid form contains maltitol, so patients with hereditary fructose intolerance should avoid this medication. This medication can cause drowsiness and fatigue, so it is recommended to avoid taking it with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants. Patients at risk for urinary obstruction should use this medication with caution, and those with epilepsy or a risk of seizures should use it carefully as their condition may worsen. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should take care regarding the effects of this medication on the fetus or newborn. Children and the elderly may experience different drug effects and side effects based on their body functions; thus, appropriate dosage adjustment and monitoring are necessary. This medication may affect the results of allergy tests, so it is advisable to discontinue use before testing.
