Valsartan 80 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily, taken with a small amount of water regardless of meals. Valsartan 160 mg/Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg is applicable if prescribed for blood pressure lowering. Dose adjustment is not required for patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance 30 mL/min or higher). Patients with liver impairment should not exceed 80 mg per day if there is no biliary obstruction.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, so use must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used if there is an allergy to any of the components or to sulfonamide drugs. Patients with severely impaired liver or kidney function, certain liver diseases, or specific electrolyte imbalances should not receive this medication. Patients with a history of angioedema or certain vascular-related diseases should also avoid this medication. Patients with diabetes or moderate to severe impaired kidney function should avoid using this medication along with certain other medications and must follow their doctor's instructions. This medication can affect electrolyte imbalances, particularly potassium and sodium levels, so regular blood tests are necessary. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. While taking this medication, potassium supplements should not be taken without consulting a doctor, and careful management of fluid or salt deficiency is necessary. Elderly patients or those with cardiovascular diseases should closely monitor kidney function and electrolyte status. This medication can cause skin sensitivity to sunlight, so sun exposure should be minimized, and any new skin lesions should be reported to a doctor immediately. There are many medications that can interact with this one, so if you are taking any other medications, it is essential to inform your healthcare provider. Lactating women are advised not to take this medication, and its safety in pediatric patients has not been established. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, electrolyte abnormalities, or muscle spasms may arise, requiring immediate medical attention. It should be stored out of reach of children and in a moisture-free environment.
