Precautions

This medication should not be used by those who are allergic to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives or have a history of such allergies. Patients with severely impaired kidney function or those undergoing dialysis should not take this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as those who are breastfeeding, should not take this medication. This medication should not be used in infants under 1 year of age, and it is recommended to administer in liquid form rather than tablets for children under 6 years of age. This tablet contains lactose, so individuals with hereditary lactose intolerance should avoid this medication. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function, as well as elderly individuals, may need to be cautious as the drug concentration in the blood may increase when taking this medication. Taking this medication may lead to neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, fatigue, headache, and dizziness, so caution is required when driving or operating machinery. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur, and in rare cases, cardiac arrhythmias or blood-related side effects have been reported. Taking this medication with alcohol or other central nervous system-affecting drugs may intensify drowsiness or reduce concentration, so it is advisable to avoid such combinations. Individuals with symptoms of urinary retention should be cautious as their condition may worsen with this medication. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication, and it is safe to avoid use during lactation due to the potential for drug transfer into breast milk. For children, it should not be used in infants under 1 year of age, and appropriate dosage adjustments are needed for children under 12 years of age. For the elderly, due to reduced kidney function, the drug may remain in the body longer, so starting with a lower dose and closely monitoring the condition is necessary. This drug may affect allergy test results, so it is recommended to discontinue use 3-5 days before testing. In the event of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness or anxiety may appear, and since there is no specific antidote, symptomatic treatment should be sought. Additionally, it is particularly important to be cautious of overdose as this medication is difficult to remove through dialysis.
