Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to certain ingredients. In particular, those allergic to hydroxysine or piperazine derivatives, or those with a past history of such allergies, should not take this medication. Patients with end-stage renal disease or those undergoing hemodialysis should also not take this medication. Infants under one year of age should absolutely not be given this medication, and children under six years old should take it in liquid form rather than as tablets. Furthermore, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be given to patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders. Patients with impaired renal or liver function, as well as the elderly, should use this medication with special caution as the blood concentration may be elevated. Taking this medication may result in central nervous system symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, dizziness, gastrointestinal discomfort, heart rhythm irregularities, and blood-related adverse reactions. Additionally, allergic reactions, skin rashes, and ocular symptoms have been reported, so if any abnormal symptoms manifest, immediate consultation with healthcare personnel is necessary. Drowsiness or fatigue may occur after taking this medication, so caution is advised when driving or performing tasks that require concentration. Taking this medication with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may enhance drowsiness, so it's advisable to avoid concurrent use. Patients with urinary drainage disorders should be cautious as this medication can exacerbate urination problems, and those with epilepsy or at risk of seizures should also use it with caution. This medication may affect the efficacy or side effects when used in combination with other antihistamines or specific medications, so you must inform about any other medications being taken. Pregnant women should use this medication cautiously, as there have been no clear reports of risks affecting the fetus, and nursing mothers should also be cautious as adverse reactions may occur in infants. The use is not recommended in children, especially infants under one year old, and liquid form is safer for children under six. The elderly should start with a low dose and adjust while monitoring for effects due to the potential for prolonged retention of the medication in the body because of decreased kidney function. This medication can affect the results of allergy tests, so it's advisable to stop taking it prior to testing. Symptoms such as drowsiness or agitation may manifest in cases of overdose, and as there is no specific antidote, treatment should be provided according to symptoms. Since this medication is difficult to remove through hemodialysis, swift medical intervention is needed in cases of overdose.
