Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with allergic reactions to certain ingredients or hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. It should not be administered to patients with end-stage renal disease or those undergoing dialysis. It must not be used in infants under 1 year of age, and children under 6 years of age should be given the liquid form instead of the tablet form. Additionally, the tablet contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should avoid it. Patients with renal or hepatic impairment, as well as the elderly, should use caution as this medication can increase blood concentration. Taking this medication may result in adverse neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, dizziness, fatigue, and gastrointestinal issues, including nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Side effects such as cardiac arrhythmias, changes in blood cell counts, allergic reactions, visual disturbances, and hepatic or renal function abnormalities have also been reported. In children, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and otitis media may frequently occur. Care should be taken when engaging in activities that require alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, due to drowsiness or fatigue caused by this medication. Alcohol or medications that affect the central nervous system could exacerbate drowsiness or loss of concentration, so it is advisable to avoid them. Patients with urinary excretion issues or epilepsy should consult a physician before taking this medication. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding need to exercise caution regarding potential effects on fetuses or newborns when using this medication. In the case of overdose, symptoms may include drowsiness or restlessness, and as there are no specific antidotes, symptomatic treatment should be administered. This medication is not well removed through dialysis, so prompt medical attention is crucial in case of overdose.
