Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria, dermatitis (itching, etc.)
This medication helps relieve symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. It is also effective in improving symptoms when used with hydrocortisone topical preparations for the treatment of dermatitis and eczema associated with itching. Patients can expect relief from allergy and skin-related symptoms with this medication.
Adults and children over 6 years: Take 1 tablet (5mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) orally once a day, regardless of meals. Adjust dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms. For patients with renal impairment, adjust the dosage based on kidney function (creatinine clearance (CLCR (ml/min))). Mild (50 ≤ CLCR < 80): 1 tablet once daily Moderate (30 ≤ CLCR < 50): 1 tablet once every 2 days

This medication should not be taken by patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to certain ingredients. Patients with significantly impaired kidney function, those undergoing dialysis, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, and breastfeeding women should also avoid this medication. This medication should not be used in infants under 1 year old, and for children under 6 years old, it should be administered in liquid form rather than tablet form. This tablet contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic illnesses should not use it. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, as well as elderly individuals, should use this medication cautiously as blood concentration may increase. This medication may cause sedation, headache, dizziness, and fatigue as central nervous system side effects, as well as dry mouth, nausea, abdominal pain, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. There have also been reports of heart rhythm abnormalities, blood dyscrasias, allergic reactions, ocular symptoms, and liver and kidney function abnormalities. Since drowsiness or fatigue may occur after taking this medication, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery requiring concentration. Taking this medication with alcohol or other central nervous system affecting drugs may exacerbate drowsiness, so it is advised not to combine them. Patients with urinary elimination disorders or those at risk of urinary retention, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, should take this medication with caution. This medication should not be taken with alcohol, and it may interact with some medications, so if other drugs are being taken, medical consultation is essential. It is safest for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication due to insufficient research. Children, especially those under 1 year old, should not use this medication, and dosage adjustments are needed for those under 12 years old. Elderly individuals may likely have decreased kidney function, so it’s best to start with a lower dosage and monitor their condition closely. It is advisable to discontinue this medication before allergy testing, and in case of overdose, symptoms like drowsiness or agitation may appear, requiring treatment according to the symptoms as there is no specific antidote. In cases of overdose, it should be noted that blood dialysis will not eliminate the drug, so caution is warranted.
