This medication may rarely cause severe allergic reactions similar to macrolide antibiotics like erythromycin. Life-threatening symptoms such as angioedema and anaphylaxis may occur, so if allergic symptoms develop, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, this drug may disrupt the balance of gut bacteria, leading to diarrhea and colitis caused by Clostridium difficile. If diarrhea symptoms occur, inform a healthcare professional immediately, and if symptoms are severe, receive appropriate treatment. This medication should not be administered to patients with specific hypersensitivity, those taking ergot alkaloids, or patients with fructose intolerance. Special caution is needed for patients with severely impaired kidney function, severe liver dysfunction, or diabetes. Although generally well-tolerated, side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, liver function abnormalities, and skin rashes may occur. Rarely, serious side effects such as hearing loss, heart arrhythmias, hepatitis, severe skin reactions, myalgia, and renal impairment may occur, so consult a physician if unusual symptoms arise. As with other antibiotics, there is a risk of superinfection caused by resistant bacteria, so inform a healthcare professional if infection symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear. Patients with heart diseases, electrolyte imbalances, or those on specific medications should take caution as the risk of cardiac rhythm disturbances may increase while taking this medication. During pregnancy, the safety for the fetus is not fully established, so it should only be used if necessary, and during breastfeeding, the drug may be transmitted through breast milk, so consult a healthcare professional regarding breastfeeding. The elderly may have a higher risk of heart arrhythmias, so dosage should consider this factor. In case of overdose, general symptomatic and supportive treatment is needed, and medication should be accurately prepared and used as directed. In children, the correct dosage should be measured according to body weight, and the drug should be kept out of reach of children. Storing the medication in other containers instead of the original container poses a risk of misuse or quality degradation, so it must be stored in its original container.
