Precautions

This medication is provided in glass ampoule form, so be cautious when opening the ampoule to avoid glass fragments contaminating the medication. Thus, particularly when administering to children and the elderly, it is essential to open the ampoule with great care to ensure no glass particles are included. This medication should be administered with caution to patients with a history of gastric ulcers or heart disease, as well as those with glaucoma. Additionally, patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication should be monitored closely. Using this medication may cause nausea or diarrhea in the gastrointestinal tract. Cardiac symptoms may include rapid or irregular heartbeat. Central nervous system effects may include insomnia, excitement, tremors, dizziness, pupil dilation, visual disturbances, tinnitus, and anxiety. Moreover, patients with glaucoma may experience worsening symptoms and may feel generally weak. Overdosing on this medication can exacerbate symptoms in patients with depression, so careful attention must be paid to ensure that a single dose does not exceed 1 gram. When used with other medications, interactions must be noted, particularly with xanthine derivatives such as aminophylline, diprophylline, theophylline, or central nervous system stimulants, as this may lead to excessive stimulation of the central nervous system. Co-administration with MAO inhibitors may cause increased heart rate and elevated blood pressure. Furthermore, combining with cimetidine may slow the metabolism of caffeine, exacerbating symptoms of central nervous system agitation. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding women, should avoid long-term use of this medication because caffeine contained in it can cross the placenta and enter breast milk. Elderly individuals may have impaired bodily functions; therefore, it is prudent to adjust the dosage when using this medication. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, cardiovascular symptoms such as arrhythmias and increased blood pressure, neurological symptoms such as seizures or coma, and respiratory distress may occur. In this event, fluid therapy should be undertaken to promote drug excretion, and in cases of severe agitation, a central nervous system depressant should be administered, along with respiratory management. When administering via intravenous injection, the injection speed should be adjusted slowly, and the needle used should be as small as possible. When administering intramuscularly or subcutaneously, avoid areas where nerves run, and it is advisable to alternate the injection sites left and right during repeated injections. If there is significant pain during injection, or if blood is flowing back, the needle should be immediately removed and the injection site changed.
