This medication is used for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet (70 mg/2800 IU or 70 mg/5600 IU) of this medication once a week in the morning with sufficient water at least 30 minutes before consuming food, beverages, or other medications. After taking, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes and until the first food intake. If a dose is missed, take 1 tablet the next morning and resume the regular dosing schedule.

Precautions

This drug can irritate the upper gastrointestinal tract mucosa, leading to adverse reactions such as esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, and esophageal erosion. If symptoms such as dysphagia, odynophagia, retrosternal pain, or heartburn occur, stop taking immediately and consult a doctor. Take this medication with a sufficient amount of water and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. The alendronate ingredient should not be administered to patients with esophageal motility disorders, those who cannot remain upright for 30 minutes, patients with hypersensitivity to the ingredient, patients with hypocalcemia, and those who are lactose intolerant. This medication is used for osteoporosis treatment and has reported adverse reactions such as musculoskeletal pain, gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, etc.), headaches, dizziness, rashes, etc. Special caution is advised for those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases or in combination with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as gastrointestinal irritation may increase. This drug should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is not recommended for use in children, and elderly patients can use it without special dosage adjustments but may require vitamin D supplementation. It is not recommended for patients with severely impaired renal function. When taking, there should be at least a 30-minute interval from other calcium supplements or antacids, and instructions for usage and precautions must be fully understood and followed. In the case of overdose, gastrointestinal irritation and symptoms of hypocalcemia may occur, so consult a medical professional immediately. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.

Hives, angioedema, esophagitis, esophageal erosion, esophageal stricture, esophageal perforation, delayed esophageal transit, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, symptoms of hypocalcemia, severe edema, severe allergic reactions, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, severe skin adverse reactions, severe bone, joint, and muscle pain, tension fractures, fractures, localized jaw osteonecrosis, suspected symptoms of liver abnormalities (jaundice), hypocalcemia.

Mild side effects

Abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, gas, acid reflux, esophageal ulcers, vomiting, dysphagia, abdominal bloating, gastritis, musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, muscle cramps, headaches, dizziness, altered taste, rashes, itching, hair loss, uveitis, scleritis, episcleritis, external ear cholesteatoma, nasopharyngitis

Storage

This medication must be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture. Additionally, it should be stored at room temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius, preferably kept in a dark place to avoid direct light.
