It is also used for urinary tract infections, skin and wound infections, gynecological infections, and abdominal infections. It is effective in treating a wide range of bacterial infections and helps improve the patient's symptoms.
Adults and children aged 12 and older: 500 to 1000mg (equivalent dosage) of amoxicillin, sulbactam per dose, taken orally three times a day.
This medication is a penicillin class antibiotic and should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or penicillin antibiotics. Additionally, special caution is needed in patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporin drugs. This medication contains lactose and should not be used by patients with genetic metabolic disorders such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, and glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases or a history of allergies, especially those with asthma or skin allergy symptoms, should use this drug cautiously, and patients with severely impaired kidney function should adjust the dosing interval. Elderly patients or those in poor general condition may show signs of bleeding tendency, therefore careful observation is required. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and in severe cases, pseudomembranous colitis may develop, necessitating immediate discontinuation of the drug if symptoms worsen. Allergic reactions such as urticaria, rash, and anaphylactic shock have also been reported, so immediate treatment is needed if allergy symptoms occur. As it may affect kidney function, treatment should be stopped if renal adverse reactions occur and appropriate measures should be taken. Blood-related adverse responses can include anemia, thrombocytopenia, and leukopenia, hence regular blood tests are necessary. Prolonged use may lead to excessive proliferation of fungi or resistant bacteria, so caution for dysbiosis is warranted. Skin rashes and severe skin reactions have been reported, so immediate consultation with a physician is advised if skin abnormalities occur. Liver function abnormalities may also occur, thus regular liver function tests are recommended. Rarely, central nervous system symptoms such as headache and seizures may occur, and treatment should be immediately stopped if symptoms of aseptic meningitis develop. This medication poses a low risk to the fetus during pregnancy but should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks. Care is also needed during breastfeeding as it can be excreted in breast milk affecting the baby. Children and newborns, as their kidney function is immature, may have delayed drug elimination, so it should be administered cautiously. Elderly patients may exhibit adverse reactions more easily due to decreased bodily functions, so attention should be paid to dosing and intervals while closely monitoring their condition. This medication may interact with other drugs, so if taking other medications, it is imperative to inform the healthcare provider. In case of overdose, neurologic toxicity or acute kidney failure may occur, and medical attention should be sought immediately, with possible blood dialysis to remove the drug if necessary. This medication's effectiveness may decrease when administered with other antibiotics, so careful attention should be paid to the method of administration.
