Treatment of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary and skin infections
This drug is effective in treating infections caused by various bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Escherichia coli. It is used for upper respiratory infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, and tonsillitis, as well as lower respiratory infections like bronchitis and pneumonia. It is also frequently employed in the treatment of urinary tract infections, skin and wound infections, gynecological and abdominal infections. It plays a crucial role in aiding patient recovery against a wide range of bacterial infections. Therefore, this drug is used to improve various bacterial infections.
Adults and children over 12 years: 1 dose of amoxicillin sulbactam 500 to 1000 mg (potency) taken orally 3 times a day.
Children over 12 years: 1 dose of amoxicillin sulbactam 500 to 1000 mg (potency) taken orally 3 times a day.
This drug should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins or allergies to cephalosporin drugs. Also, patients with viral infections such as infectious mononucleosis are at a higher risk of rash and should avoid using this drug. This drug contains lactose and should be avoided by individuals with genetic disorders such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, allergic dispositions, severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, or those in poor nutritional status should use this drug cautiously. During treatment, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and if there is blood in the stool or severe abdominal pain, the drug should be discontinued immediately and a physician should be consulted. Allergic reactions can cause hives, swelling, skin rashes, and in severe cases, anaphylactic shock, so use of the drug should be stopped immediately if such symptoms occur. Due to the possibility of renal dysfunction or blood disorders, regular monitoring is required, and immediate reporting to a doctor should be done if abnormal symptoms arise. Long-term use may lead to fungal infections, so if symptoms of stomatitis or candidiasis appear, the drug should be discontinued and treated. Liver dysfunction or jaundice symptoms may occur, thus regular liver function tests are needed. Rarely, neurological symptoms such as headaches, seizures, or aseptic meningitis may appear, and immediate consultation with a physician should be done if these symptoms occur. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the impact on the fetus or newborn should be considered, and careful use is necessary, with breastfeeding mothers needing to watch for adverse reactions in the baby. Children, especially infants under 1 year old, may have delayed drug excretion due to immature kidney function, so caution is needed. The elderly may have bleeding tendencies due to reduced body function, thus dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted, and their condition should be closely monitored. There may be interactions when used with other drugs, so if there are other medications being taken, a physician or pharmacist must be informed. In case of overdose, there can be neurological toxicity or renal failure, so it is essential to strictly adhere to the dosage, and if necessary, the drug can be removed by hemodialysis. To prevent the occurrence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, it is essential to administer the drug only for the necessary duration, and if continuous diarrhea occurs during treatment, the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis should be considered, warranting a diagnosis and treatment.
