Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillin antibiotics or allergies to cephalosporins. Caution is advised especially in patients with viral diseases such as infectious mononucleosis, as the risk of rash may increase. Additionally, as it contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, allergic constitutions, severely impaired kidney function, and the elderly should use this medication with greater caution. Digestive symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting may occur; if severe symptoms arise, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Allergic reactions can lead to severe symptoms like hives, angioedema, and anaphylaxis, requiring immediate medical attention. Due to potential impacts on kidney function, nephritis or acute renal failure may occur, so regular kidney function monitoring is recommended. Blood abnormalities such as anemia and thrombocytopenia may appear on blood tests, hence periodic monitoring is advised. Long-term use may result in fungal infections or dysbiosis, so symptoms should be observed. Skin rashes and severe skin reactions may occur rarely, necessitating careful monitoring of skin condition. Liver function abnormalities and jaundice may arise, so regular liver function tests should also be conducted. Rarely, neurological adverse reactions such as headaches, seizures, and aseptic meningitis may occur; if these symptoms appear, consult healthcare professionals immediately. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is needed, particularly when taken with methotrexate, probenecid, allopurinol, and oral contraceptives. During pregnancy, the risk to the fetus is low, but it should only be used if necessary. While breastfeeding, monitoring is needed as side effects like diarrhea or skin rashes may occur in the infant. In pediatric patients, particularly neonates or infants under 6 months, renal function is immature, so cautious administration is essential. The elderly may experience a higher incidence of side effects due to reduced physiological functions, necessitating adjustment to dosage and administration intervals while carefully monitoring their condition. In cases of overdose, neurological toxicity or renal failure may occur, necessitating immediate medical intervention, and if needed, blood dialysis can be performed to remove the drug. The combination with other antibiotics may alter efficacy, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted according to the physician's instructions during co-administration.
