Improvement of symptoms of atherosclerosis (e.g., acute coronary syndrome); prevention of thromboembolism in atrial fibrillation
This medication is used to improve symptoms related to atherosclerosis, such as ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, and peripheral arterial disease. Additionally, it plays a role in preventing and improving issues due to cardiovascular abnormalities in patients with acute coronary syndrome, particularly those with unstable angina or non-ST elevation myocardial infarction who are undergoing medical treatment, coronary interventions (e.g., stent placement), or coronary artery bypass surgery. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of stroke and thromboembolism in atrial fibrillation patients with vascular risk factors who are not suitable for vitamin K antagonist therapy, particularly when there is a low risk of bleeding. Thus, this medication is effectively used to improve the risk of various cardiovascular diseases and thrombosis.
○ Adults 1. For patients with ischemic stroke, myocardial infarction, or peripheral arterial disease, administer clopidogrel 75 mg orally once daily. 2. For patients with acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction), start with a loading dose of 300 mg of this medicine once daily on the day treatment is initiated, followed by a maintenance dose of 75 mg orally once daily. Aspirin 75 ~ 325 mg should be coadministered with this medicine once daily. 3. For patients with atrial fibrillation, administer 75 mg of this medicine orally once daily. Aspirin 75 ~ 100 mg should be coadministered with this medicine once daily. ○ Patients with renal impairment : Treatment experience in patients with renal impairment is limited. ○ Patients with hepatic impairment : Treatment experience in patients with moderate hepatic disease and a bleeding diathesis is limited. This medicine may be taken with or without food.

Patients should be aware that bleeding may occur while taking this medication, and should notify medical staff immediately if they experience any bleeding symptoms or adverse reactions. This medication is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women, except in special circumstances, and breastfeeding women should determine the appropriateness of use with their physician. It is recommended not to use this medication in children as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Elderly patients may have a higher risk of bleeding, requiring dose adjustments and careful monitoring.
