Relief of moderate to severe acute and chronic pain
This medication is used to relieve acute and chronic pain ranging from moderate to severe.
Children and adults aged 12 and above: dosage should be adjusted based on the patient's pain level and treatment response. An initial dose of 2 tablets is recommended, thereafter maintaining intervals of at least 6 hours, without exceeding 8 tablets in one day. The lowest effective dose should be used for as short a duration as possible. Avoid using this medication for extended periods beyond what is necessary, and in cases requiring long-term treatment due to the nature and severity of the disease, regular monitoring should be conducted to assess the need for continued use of this medication. Elderly Administer the standard adult dose. However, for elderly patients aged 75 and above, when tramadol is taken orally, the elimination half-life of tramadol is increased by 17%, so this medication should be administered with intervals of at least 6 hours. Patients with renal impairment For moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance of 10-30 ml/min), extend the administration interval to 12 hours. For severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance of less than 10 ml/min), administration of this medication is not recommended. Tramadol is eliminated very slowly during dialysis and filtration, so there is no need to readminister this medication after dialysis for pain relief maintenance. Patients with liver impairment Use caution and consider extending the administration interval for patients with moderate liver impairment. This medication should not be administered to patients with severe liver impairment.
This medication may put a strain on the liver, so individuals who consume more than three alcoholic drinks per day regularly should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If a rash or hypersensitivity reaction occurs during treatment, use should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. This medication may increase the risk of seizures, so special caution is needed for those with a history of seizures or those at high risk of seizures. In rare cases, fatal allergic reactions may occur, so if sudden difficulty breathing or severe skin reactions occur, notify medical personnel immediately. For patients with severe respiratory conditions, administration of this medication may cause life-threatening respiratory depression, so it should be administered in a facility equipped for such emergencies. Using this medication in conjunction with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory depression, or coma, so co-administration should be avoided or done under medical supervision. Patients with head injuries or increased intracranial pressure should exercise caution as their symptoms may worsen while using this medication. This medication can cause physical and psychological dependence, so long-term use should be done under medical guidance. Individuals with impaired liver function should consult a doctor before use, as one of the components of this drug may exert stress on the liver. Due to genetic metabolic differences, some patients may have excessive accumulation of the active ingredient, leading to severe side effects; in such cases, alternative medications or dosage adjustments may be necessary. This medication should not be administered to children under 12 years or adolescents under 18 years following certain surgeries, especially those at high risk of respiratory depression. Patients with sleep apnea or hypoxia should be closely monitored for worsening symptoms after using this medication. During treatment, sodium levels in the blood may drop; therefore, regular monitoring of the condition is necessary, particularly for the elderly or those with risk factors. When taking this medication, do not exceed the recommended dosage, and be careful not to combine it with other similar medications. Abrupt discontinuation can result in withdrawal symptoms, so it is safest to taper off under a doctor's guidance. The risk of seizures or serious side effects may increase when used with certain antidepressants or sedatives, so always consult healthcare professionals prior to combination therapy. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a physician before use; during lactation, this medication may transfer to breast milk and pose risks to the infant, so it is advisable to avoid use. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so caution is required while driving or operating machinery. Overdose may result in severe respiratory depression, seizures, liver damage, etc., so the recommended dosage must be strictly observed, and emergency treatment should be sought if overdose is suspected.
