Precautions

This medication should not be administered to obese patients under the age of 18, or patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and severe respiratory diseases due to the increased risk of severe respiratory suppression. Those who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not use it, and it should also be avoided by individuals currently taking or who have recently (within the last two weeks) stopped taking MAO inhibitors such as certain antidepressants or antipsychotic medications. It is also advisable for children under 12 years of age, nursing women, glaucoma patients, and those with obstructive lower urinary tract diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia to refrain from using this medication. Patients with allergic tendencies or who have previously experienced drug allergy symptoms, individuals with impaired liver or kidney function, those with thyroid disorders or diabetes, and those who are weak or have high fever should use this medication cautiously. Patients with heart disease or hypertension, the elderly, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and those with elevated intraocular pressure or urination disorders should consult a physician before using this medication. Caution is also necessary for patients who experience prolonged coughing or have respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema. This medication may rarely cause various side effects such as shock, rash, itching, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, urinary difficulties, hypotension, and nasal congestion; therefore, if any unusual symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is advised. Since drowsiness may occur during treatment, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery, and to refrain from overdose or prolonged use. Combining this medication with other cold remedies, sedatives, or antihistamines can exacerbate side effects, so it is recommended not to combine them. Caution should also be exercised when taking it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants as drowsiness may become more pronounced. For pregnant or nursing women, due to the lack of established safety, this medication should only be used cautiously when absolutely necessary, and use during breastfeeding is not recommended. Special attention is needed for children, and it is safer not to administer this medication to children under 12 years of age. Elderly individuals may experience weakened bodily functions and should use this medication while closely monitoring their condition. In case of overdose, central nervous system abnormalities, seizures, and difficulty breathing may occur, so immediate emergency treatment such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage should be obtained. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool place with low humidity. For quality maintenance, it is also safe not to transfer it to other containers.
