This medication is used to treat infections caused by various bacteria. It is effective for upper respiratory infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, and tonsillitis, as well as lower respiratory infections like bronchitis and pneumonia. It is also used for the treatment of upper and lower urinary infections, skin and wound infections, gynecological infections, and abdominal infections. It works safely and effectively against various strains that cause these infections, improving symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 12 years old should take amoxicillin and sulbactam film-coated tablet at a dose of 500-1000mg (equivalent) orally 3 times a day.

Child dose

Children over 12 years old should take amoxicillin and sulbactam film-coated tablet at a dose of 500-1000mg (equivalent) orally 3 times a day.

Precautions

This medication is a penicillin-class antibiotic and should not be used in certain patients. First, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or to penicillin class antibiotics, patients with hypersensitivity to cephalosporin-class drugs, and patients with viral infections like infectious mononucleosis. Additionally, this medication contains lactose and should not be used in patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases or allergic reactions, patients with bronchial asthma or those prone to allergic symptoms such as hives, patients with severe renal impairment, and those who have difficulty with oral intake or elderly patients should use this medication with caution. During administration, gastrointestinal side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and especially severe colitis may develop, so if such symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and a doctor's consultation is required. Also, serious allergic reactions, such as skin rashes, hives, and anaphylactic shock, may occur, so caution is necessary. Abnormal kidney function, blood abnormalities, fungal infections due to dysbiosis, liver function abnormalities, and neurological symptoms have also been reported, hence regular checkups are recommended. This medication may interact with other drugs, and caution should be exercised when taking it together with methotrexate, probenecid, allopurinol, oral contraceptives, etc. It is known that there is a low risk to the fetus during pregnancy; however, it should only be used when absolutely necessary, and during breastfeeding, it should be used carefully as it may affect the baby. In children and elderly patients, renal function may be immature or impaired, so dosage adjustment and monitoring are necessary. In case of overdose, symptoms of neurological disturbance or renal failure may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought; if necessary, the drug can be removed via hemodialysis. Finally, caution should be exercised regarding the administration method when combined with other antibiotics, avoiding mixed administration and ensuring sufficient intervals between doses.
