This medication must not be administered to patients who have previously experienced shock symptoms from this drug. Also, individuals who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this drug or to cephalosporin antibiotics should not use it. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics should exercise caution when using this medication. Approximately 10% of patients allergic to penicillin may experience cross-reactivity with this medication. Individuals with allergic predispositions or family history should also use caution when taking this medication. Patients with severely impaired renal function may have elevated serum drug concentrations, necessitating dose adjustments and extended dosing intervals. Patients who have difficulty taking medication orally, patients receiving parenteral nutrition, and those in poor general condition should be closely monitored for symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. Elderly patients are at higher risk for adverse reactions when taking this medication, so it should be administered cautiously. Patients with a past history of colitis should also take caution when using this medication. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as shock, anaphylaxis, skin rashes, blood abnormalities, membranous colitis, interstitial pneumonia, renal failure, and acute hepatitis, so it is crucial to discontinue use immediately and inform medical personnel if symptoms occur. Additionally, this medication can cause various side effects such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, and dizziness, thus these should be closely observed. Like other antibiotics, it is important to administer this medication only for the minimum necessary duration and based on susceptibility testing to prevent resistance. Patients with a history of allergic reactions should undergo thorough history-taking and skin reaction tests before administration. If an allergic reaction occurs, it is essential to discontinue the medication immediately and receive appropriate treatment, such as oxygen supply, intravenous fluids, or epinephrine. Using antibiotics may alter the normal intestinal flora and lead to membranous colitis; therefore, inform medical personnel immediately if severe abdominal pain or diarrhea occurs. When taking this medication with iron supplements, antacids, warfarin, or certain other medications, be aware of potential interactions and adjust the dosing intervals or exercise caution. Pregnant women should only be given this medication when the potential benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety during pregnancy has not been established. Caution is advised when using this medication in children, premature infants, and newborns, as its safety has not been sufficiently confirmed. Elderly patients may face bleeding risks due to renal function decline and vitamin K deficiency, so dose and administration intervals must be adjusted while monitoring their condition. Overdose may lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and seizures; in severe cases, blood dialysis may be needed to eliminate the drug. This medication can affect certain clinical test results, so it is advisable to inform medical personnel prior to testing. Finally, keep out of reach of children and store the medication away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a place away from light, and moist places should be avoided. It is recommended to maintain a storage temperature between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
