Precautions

This drug is a penicillin antibiotic and should not be used in patients with known allergies to certain components or who have previously shown hypersensitivity to similar drugs. In particular, it should be avoided in patients with infectious mononucleosis due to an increased risk of rash. It contains lactose, so it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, allergic constitutions, or severe renal impairment should use this drug with caution, and elderly patients or those in poor general condition require careful attention. There may be a tendency for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, so close monitoring is necessary. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur during medication; in severe cases, it can progress to pseudomembranous colitis, and if such symptoms occur, use should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Hypersensitivity reactions such as rash, urticaria, and serum sickness may occur, and rarely anaphylactic shock may arise; if an allergic reaction appears, immediate cessation of the drug and emergency treatment are required. It can affect kidney function, potentially leading to nephritis or symptoms of acute renal failure, thus regular renal function testing is necessary. Blood disorders such as anemia, thrombocytopenia, and neutropenia have been reported, so observational blood tests are warranted. Long-term use may lead to fungal infections or overgrowth of non-susceptible bacteria; if symptoms of dysbiosis appear, appropriate treatment is necessary. Skin rashes, severe skin reactions, liver function anomalies, or neurological symptoms may rarely occur, so if abnormal symptoms appear, immediate consultation with medical staff is needed. This drug may interact with other medications, particularly caution is needed when taken with methotrexate, probenecid, or oral contraceptives. During pregnancy, the risk to the fetus is low, but it should only be used when the therapeutic benefit outweighs the risks, and caution is needed during breastfeeding as it may be excreted in breast milk and affect the infant. Children, especially newborns under 6 months, may have incomplete renal function, leading to delayed drug clearance, so careful administration is required. Elderly individuals may experience adverse reactions more easily due to decreased bodily functions; thus, dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and their condition closely observed. In case of overdose, neurological toxicity or renal failure may occur, and medical attention should be sought immediately for appropriate treatment. If persistent diarrhea occurs during the use of this drug, there could be a possibility of pseudomembranous colitis, and appropriate diagnosis and treatment should be obtained by consulting healthcare personnel immediately.
