This medication is an antibiotic that works by binding to specific proteins and disrupting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby killing bacteria. It should not be used in patients who have previously experienced severe shock reactions due to this drug or in those who are allergic to cephalosporins. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics or those prone to allergic reactions, such as bronchial asthma, skin rashes, or hives, should use this medication cautiously. Patients with severely impaired renal function, those who cannot take oral medications, elderly patients, or patients in poor general health should be monitored carefully as they may exhibit signs of vitamin K deficiency. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis, should use this medication cautiously. This medication can rarely cause serious allergic reactions such as shock and anaphylaxis; if symptoms occur, immediately discontinue the drug and seek appropriate treatment. Severe skin reactions may occur; if symptoms such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis appear, administration should be stopped immediately. Various blood abnormalities, including leukopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia, can rarely occur, so regular monitoring is necessary. Liver dysfunction or renal impairment may occur, so liver and kidney function tests should be performed regularly, and administration should be stopped if abnormalities are found. Gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, and severe colitis may develop, so patients should inform their doctor if symptoms arise. Rarely, respiratory issues such as pneumonia or eosinophilia may occur; discontinue use if symptoms develop and treatment may be required. CNS side effects may include restlessness, anxiety, dizziness, hallucinations, and drowsiness, which may occur rarely. This medication may cause dysbiosis, such as stomatitis or candidiasis, so patients should be cautious if symptoms occur. Signs of a tendency to bleed due to vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B deficiency may occur rarely, necessitating observation. When using this medication, it is advisable to conduct susceptibility tests to prevent the development of resistant organisms and to administer the drug only for the necessary minimum duration. There may be interactions with other medications, especially when taking probenecid, antacids, nephrotoxic drugs, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives, so caution is necessary in such cases. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should also be cautious. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients have not been sufficiently established, so use in this population should be approached with care. Elderly patients have a higher risk of adverse reactions due to decreased physiological function, so dosages and intervals should be adjusted and monitored carefully. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may occur, and appropriate emergency treatments such as gastrointestinal lavage or administration of activated charcoal should be considered. It is important to consult with healthcare professionals about adverse reactions and interactions when using this medication and to report any symptoms immediately.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air or moisture ingress, and it is best kept at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Doing this will help maintain the drug's effectiveness and prevent deterioration.
