Improvement of gastrointestinal diseases such as treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, and relief of gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms.
This medication is effective in treating ulcers of the stomach and duodenum and is also used to relieve symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It can also be applied in long-term maintenance therapy for gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is helpful in treating gastrointestinal ulcers in patients infected with Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics. Additionally, it is useful for controlling excessive gastric acid secretion in patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is used to improve symptoms and assist in the treatment of various gastrointestinal diseases.
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: 10 mg orally once daily; if symptoms allow, it can be administered up to 20 mg orally once daily. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg orally once daily for 4 to 8 weeks; if not resolved after 8 weeks of treatment, it may be administered again as 10 mg or 20 mg orally twice daily for an additional 8 weeks (Note: 20 mg administered twice daily only for patients with severe mucosal damage).
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to specific components. Caution is particularly needed in cases of allergy to penicillin or macrolide antibiotics, especially when used in combination during Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy. Additionally, it is safest for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding not to use this medication. Patients with liver dysfunction, elderly individuals, or those with a history of drug hypersensitivity should use this medication cautiously. This drug contains specific dyes, so caution is needed if allergic to those components. If symptoms of allergy such as rash or itching occur, discontinue use immediately. Regular blood tests and liver function tests should be performed, and if any abnormal signs are detected, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Various side effects may occur in multiple areas such as the heart, gastrointestinal tract, nervous system, respiratory system, and skin, so careful observation is required if symptoms occur. Long-term use may increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, so consulting a doctor for appropriate measures is advisable if needed. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which may affect the absorption or efficacy of certain drugs, so consulting a specialist is recommended when used in conjunction with other medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and for safety, it should be kept out of reach of children. It is important to swallow the tablets whole without chewing or crushing. Caution is required when driving or operating machinery during use, as drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur.
