Improvement of gastric ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, etc.)
This medication is used to treat gastric ulcers, helping to improve mucosal lesions such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. It effectively treats mucosal damage, alleviates symptoms, and aids recovery. Therefore, it is used to protect gastric health and aid recovery from gastric-related diseases.
As Rebamipide, 100 mg should be taken orally three times a day. However, in the case of gastric ulcers, it should be taken in the morning, evening, and before bedtime.
This medication should never be administered to patients with a history of hypersensitivity to its ingredients. During the use of this medication, serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur, so one should immediately stop taking it and seek appropriate treatment if symptoms arise. Also, as it may reduce white blood cell or platelet counts, blood status should be monitored closely, and the medication should be discontinued if abnormalities are found. It can affect liver function, potentially leading to elevated liver enzyme levels or jaundice symptoms, so liver status should be checked regularly. Since skin reactions such as hives, rash, and itching may occur, if such symptoms develop, the medication should be stopped. This medication can affect the central nervous system, leading to dizziness, drowsiness, or paralysis, thus caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include dry mouth, constipation, abdominal bloating, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, and abdominal pain, so symptoms should be closely monitored. If there is a significant increase in liver enzyme levels or if fever and rash occur, the administration should be stopped immediately and consultation with healthcare professionals is needed. Abnormalities in the blood system such as decreased platelets or changes in white blood cell counts may occur, necessitating regular blood tests. Additionally, various side effects such as breast pain, palpitations, fever, facial flushing, tongue paralysis, cough, breathing difficulties, hair loss, menstrual irregularities, and edema may occur, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefit outweighs the risk, as its safety has not been established. Breastfeeding women should avoid this medication as it may be transmitted through breast milk. Caution should be exercised in using this medication in low birth weight infants, newborns, infants, and children, as its safety has not been sufficiently verified. Elderly patients should be more cautious about potential side effects such as gastrointestinal symptoms due to deteriorated physiological functions.
