Improvement of blood pressure control when monotherapy is inadequate for hypertension
This medication is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy.
Start with Losartan Potassium 50 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg once daily. If blood pressure is not controlled after 3 weeks of treatment, the dosage may be increased to a maximum of Losartan Potassium 100 mg / Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg once daily. For patients with kidney impairment and creatinine clearance of 30 mL/min or more, the regular dosage should be administered. Administration is not recommended for patients with liver impairment.
There is no experience using this medication in children and adolescents (under 18 years), and it should not be administered.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially during pregnancy, so use should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to any of the ingredients in this medication or severe impairment of kidney or liver function should not take it. Patients with a history of hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, gout, etc. need to take special caution when using this medication. During treatment, blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be monitored regularly to detect any abnormal signs early. This medication can alter serum potassium levels, so it is important to avoid taking potassium supplements or drugs containing potassium simultaneously. Due to the hydrochlorothiazide component, the skin may become sensitive to sunlight, so prolonged sun exposure should be avoided, and appropriate UV protection measures should be taken as needed. Symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur, so caution is required when driving or operating machinery. Overdose may lead to hypotension or heart abnormalities, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and amount. Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding should consult their physician before deciding to take this medication. Special caution is needed if breastfeeding, as this medication may cause adverse reactions in the infant. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children or adolescents, so it should not be administered to them. This medication should be stored in its original container and kept out of reach of children, as transferring it to another container may pose a risk of misuse or degradation in quality.
