This medication is used to relieve nasal congestion caused by cold, sinusitis, and upper respiratory allergies.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and individuals over 12 years take 30 to 60 mg of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride once, 3 to 4 times per day. The maximum daily dosage is 240 mg. The total daily dosage should not exceed 4 doses, with at least 4 hours between doses. Adjust the dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Child dose

Children aged 6 to 11 years take 30 mg of this medication once, 3 to 4 times per day. The total daily dosage should not exceed 4 doses, with at least 4 hours between doses.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious skin reactions such as acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis during use. If symptoms such as fever, red spots, or small blisters occur on the skin, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. Patients with certain medical conditions should not take this medication. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication or its components, or have cardiovascular diseases, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, severe renal impairment, or angle-closure glaucoma should not take it. Additionally, special caution is required for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, the elderly, and patients with impaired liver or kidney function, as side effects may be more severe in these patients. Symptoms such as rapid or irregular heartbeats, headache, dizziness, anxiety, and insomnia may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dyspepsia, constipation, and nausea may also arise, so caution is advised. If symptoms do not improve after 7 days of use or if a high fever develops, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Furthermore, this medication can interact with other sympathomimetics, certain anesthetics, and antihypertensive drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any medications you are currently taking. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, the safety of this medication is not fully established; therefore, it should be used cautiously when necessary, and breastfeeding should be avoided or discontinued if possible while taking this medication. Palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmia, pallor, cardiovascular collapse with hypotension, migraine, headache, dizziness, anxiety, tension, weakness, fatigue, insomnia, hallucinations, seizures, central nervous system stimulation or depression, reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome, constipation, nausea, dyspepsia, ischemic colitis, rash, urinary retention, cross-reactivity, angle-closure glaucoma, thirst, sweating, restlessness, sleep disturbances
