View approved original text

This medication is used as a short-term adjunct therapy in patients with exogenous obesity having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or in patients with a BMI of 27 or higher who have risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia, when appropriate diet and exercise do not suffice. This drug should be used in conjunction with weight-loss programs based on exercise, behavioral modification, and calorie restriction, and should be effective when used alone without other appetite suppressants. Therefore, it aids in weight loss alongside basic lifestyle changes for obesity management.
