Efficacy & effects

Short-term adjunctive treatment for weight loss in exogenous obesity

  • Exogenous obesity
View approved original text

This medication is used for patients with obesity who do not respond to appropriate dietary or exercise therapy. It is especially recommended for individuals with exogenous obesity who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or more, or those with a BMI of 27 kg/m2 or more who are accompanied by risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia. This drug should be used as a short-term adjunct to weight loss therapies that include exercise, behavioral modification, and caloric restriction, and should only be taken alone without the combination of other appetite suppressants. Informing patients about calculating BMI based on their weight and height may also be helpful, as this can assist in setting appropriate weight loss goals tailored to the patient's condition. In summary, this medication is used for treating obesity, aiding in weight loss and contributing to health improvement.
